Description

This publication reports on the results of the 2008 Scottish Schools Adolescent Lifestyle and Substance Use Survey (SALSUS). This is the most recent of a series of school surveys used to monitor and measure smoking, drinking and drug use among young people in Scotland. The survey was carried out in Autumn 2008 and was completed by over 10,000 pupils aged 13 years old and 15 years old across Scotland.
While the 2008 survey provides information at national level only, arrangements are in place for the next survey which will take place in Autumn 2010 which will also provide information at a local level.  This will sample around 34,000 pupils across S2 and S4 classes in Scotland in order to provide good quality local information.  The results from the 2010 survey will be published during 2011.
