The Scottish Executive attaches a high priority to the engagement of local communities in its response to the drugs problem. In recognition of that priority, the Executive held a national conference about Communities and Drugs: Taking Effective Action at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on Friday 28 September 2001. The conference was attended by over 300 representatives from the community and from national and local agencies involved in tackling drug misuse. Participants explored a wide range of issues together. This document reports the key features of the conference and has been distributed to all those attending.
