Scotland's Objectives

1. Reduce access to drugs amongst all age groups.
2. Enforcement agencies to continue to identify, investigate and obtain evidence for the prosecution of persons engaged in drug trafficking and supply.
3. Reduce the amount of drugs entering Scotland by targeting distribution networks and dismantling organised trafficking.
4. Support constructive community involvement in reducing the availability of drugs locally.
5. Reduce the availability of drugs in prisons.

Currently Available Key Indicators :

• Number of seizures of controlled drugs by the police.
• Number of recorded drugs related offences of ‘possession with intent to supply’, per 100,000 population.
• Number of recorded drugs related offences of ‘possession’, per 100,000 population.
• Number of convictions, in Scottish courts, for ‘possession with intent to supply drugs’.
• Percentage of positive tests under the Random Mandatory Drug Testing programme in Scottish prisons.
