3. Number of new reported cases of hepatitis B among injecting drug users

Information on hepatitis B infection in Scotland is collected by the Scottish Centre for Infection and Environmental Health (SCIEH).

Indicator

In 1998, there were 58 new notifications of hepatitis B infection among injecting drug users in Scotland, compared with 24 in 1997 and 20 in 1996. Injecting drug users accounted for 19.7% of all cases notified in 1998, Figure 3.3.
